

The Town of High River
is located 45 km south of the city of Calgary, just off Highway No. 2. The
population is approximately 9,200 people with a trading population of 18,000.
Because of its proximity to the city of Calgary, some of the residents commute to work in
Calgary. The Town offers all municipal services such as power, natural gas,
telephone, cable TV, water and sewer. It has two elementary schools and a junior and
senior high school, and a new Catholic school. It has ample recreation facilities
including a recreational complex with an indoor swimming pool, 2 hockey arenas, a six
sheet curling rink, whirlpool and sauna, 2 golf courses, 10 parks and 1 theatre, a bowling
alley with eight lanes, racquet ball and tennis courts, and 11 ball diamonds. High
River also has a full-service hospital, a fantastic library and a museum.

High River Hospital and Nursing Home
Features 31 Acute Care Beds and 73 Long Term
beds.The Hospital's main service areas are High River,Okotoks and Nanton.The Emergency
Department provides 24 hour service.Through the ER a number of outpatient specialists
clinics are provided such as, Ear,Nose & Throat, Orthopaedic, Ophthalmology, Urology,
Gynaecology, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Medicine, and Gerontology.There are twenty doctor's
that service the area and a full time surgeon is on staff.Other services provided at the
Hospital are Headwaters Cancer Clinic, Cardiac Holter and Cardiac Stress Testing Clinic,
Physical Therapy, Ladies Auxiliary, Volunteer Program and Personal Emergency Response
Service.
